I too have had this experience. It’s the toughest loss I’ve experienced.
That includes the loss of my Dad which was its own kind of pain.
What I struggle with is at what age we address this subject with my children.
My wife feels that they are to vulnerable at their current age to speak of what happened. Since they loved their uncle she feels it would taint him in their eyes or give them the idea to follow in his path someday.
