You can't lump the last 2 years together. 2017 was historically bad, followed by

a thorough overhaul of the coaching staff. The new staff did some great things last year. For example our best win since 2006 at TCU, a top-25 defense, and looking like we belonged on the field vs Boise State and Utah (compared to 2017 where Boise State just toyed with us, and we couldn't do anything on offense against a Utah team that would finish 7-6). And just look again at the Wisconsin game. We literally looked like we didn't belong on the field with them in 2017.

Things are looking up, drink that kool-aid brother. BYU was ironing out kinks last season, but we were much capable of winning 4 additional games (Cal, Utah, Boise State, and NIU).

Let's say in 2019 we'll have 4 more of those types of "toss-up" games. I would go with Boise State, Utah, USC, and Utah State. If BYU can win 2 of those, which I think is not only possible, but likely, then you're looking at a 9-win season. Again, that's just a 2-win improvement from last season—very attainable. 10 wins is not as likely, but not impossible.

It's not like we really lost any real production from last season either. The main pieces are all back (Wilson, Bushman, Hifo, Dayan, Empey, Tonga, Katoa, Romney, Austin Lee, Zayne Train). Drink up, 9-10 wins are on the horizon.
