admitted (when none of us even knows if that will or won’t happen). The assumption on the part of those who are raging is that he will not. If he is qualified does anyone think he won’t get in?

I hope he gets in. I want it for the football team. I also see the value in having a strong sports program, its impact on how the school is perceived by many around the country and even its positive impact on donations.

That said, I don’t believe we should assume something untoward or unfair has been done. I don’t believe there should be an unqualified right for an athlete to get in.

I don’t mind if the school bends admissions standards for athletes (or musicians or actors or people who are great at math and have poor skills with languages or whatever).

But we’ve seen a comically absurd level of angst over a decision that hasn’t even been made final yet.
