I strongly disagree with that statement, and it runs counter with my own experience. I have plenty of twenty-something coworkers, and doubt any of them would agree with the people you work with.

They sound like awful people based on your story. There's a difference between "I wouldn't help that old lady due to fear of cameras or lawsuits" (which makes little sense to me, but whatever) and "that's creepy".
