Yeah that is the tricky part of recruiting
And it's where a true talent manager who can identify unique and legitimate talent is priceless. Boise State made a living off of this method - taking those gambles and winning most times than not.

Utah is also known to convince a potential QB recruit who has the athletic intangibles as this kid to come under the pretense that they will have a shot to play QB but knows all along that they plan to convert him into a LB or DB. If he works out at QB, great, but if not, great.

It is very understandable why BYU didn't offer him. If he is as athletic and as uniquely talented as you say, it would have been nice for BYU to have been able to lock this kid up using either the Boise State or Utah methods. At this point, I can see why Kalani wouldn't be inclined to take a risk when it comes to recruiting, especially at the QB position.

I'll be keeping an eye on him - and as a former BYU recruiting specialist who is interested in the philosophy and state of BYU recruiting, I would be interested in a dialogue with you via BM, if you are interested in engaging in something like that.

Thanks again.
