No question Pathways has helped members around the world. It has come
at a cost that is heavy to bear. These are some of the costs.

1. Significant diminished of BYU. Brand dilution and athletic feeders are easily identified.

2. Dilution of the BYU pathways reputation. The prerequisites required to join pathways were difficult but how else could you prepare people for advance coursework? The recent change making every missionary eligible immediately will force the coursework to be made less rigorous to help them succeed. Less qualified people will come out the other end and they will have a BYU brand which isn't optimal IMHO.

I think its a net positive on a global scale, but I would have like to kept the name the same (Ricks College) and keep the athletics feeding into BYU.
