We could re-join the MWC and win 8+ games a year, and it would mean absolutely nothing. Would you really enjoy that? So we can sit on message boards at the end of the year and pretend our slew of 10 wins against Mountain West nobodies meant something and that the CFP committee really slighted is or something?

I’d rather play a tough schedule full of P5 teams. Hopefully we can win many. We’ll lose several. But I don’t want wins for the sake of wins. Not at all.
