Utah to the PAC-12 = big revenue boost. BYU to AAC = big loss in revenue.

Totally different situations. BYU is bringing in a lot of revenue and joining hte AAC would essentially mean BYU gives a lot of their revenue to other conference members. You have to do a cost-benefit analysis and obviously the costs outweighed the benefits.
