This article is correct. You can find the counter "argument" coming from just
about every other mainstream media outlet. Those "arguments" distort, cherry-pick, and basically lie. This issue simply is not an equal pay court case, and that is probably why the USWNT players agreed to arbitration. For the most part this issue is about market realities involving the two genders.

What I do agree with is that the USWNT should be treated equally with respect to accommodations, travel, playing venues/pitch surface quality, etc.

What I also agree with is that more commitment of attention and resources should be applied to developing the market potential of women's soccer.

If the USMNT agree- and they very likely would, given their Players Association have publicly endorsed the USWNT position, and the fact that the men make the bulk of their income from club contracts - I would advocate an agreement to redistribute at least some of FIFA disbursed WC bonus money to the women in a good faith effort to help with developing their underdeveloped market.

But this is fundamentally a free market issue, where only free market solutions can significantly improve the women's plight.
