I can see the argument that some regulation is needed to keep the sport competitive.
If that's what we're optimizing for, though, there are better ways to go about it than the extreme restrictions on player's earnings when everyone else is making hundreds of thousands or even millions.
Or at the very least be consistent: if the restrictions are for competitiveness, place similar restrictions on the salaries of ADs and coaching staffs.
