so 50% have left due to the issues that are above the head coach's capacity to control. That is not a good track record.
I see the issue of Sitake not being a good coach and the lack of institutional support to compete on the terms mammon has set as two separate issues, but I will say this much: even if BYU gets a good head coach, such as Bronco Mendenhall is, a good coach will not be enough to lead BYU to a nationally relevant program without institutional changes. Hence, the point many are making about Sitake is not a vote of confidence in his ability it is a recognition that it really just might not matter and perhaps taking it a step further, a recognition that the institutional issues are enough that no "good" coach will want the job.
