Alabama hasn't beaten a ranked team either. When you have 14 teams & play only 8
of them in the SEC, then you have a situation like Bama who skipped playing Georgia and Florida this year. They played LSU sure, but lost that game at home coming off of a bye to prep for LSU.
The SEC is the best conference and has been for a long time. However, when people assume that each team plays a gauntlet each season is not reality. There are 5 teams each season that each team skips in the SEC. With 8 conference games, that leaves 4 non-conference games each season as well. All other P5 conferences play 3 non-conference games. When SEC teams play one P5 and three cream puffs in their non-conference games, then it is an unfair advantage for them.
Alabama sitting home the weekend when Conference Title games are played shouldn't benefit them if Utah gets to 11-1 and Oregon does the same before playing each other in Santa Clara. A 12-1 PAC 12 Conference Champion should be in the playoff. I am not saying it will happen and I am also not saying the PAC 12 is solid this season either. But the system is a farce at 4 teams for the playoff. With 8 teams you would get the five P5 conference winners, the next 2 highest ranked teams and the top ranked G5 team.
