The Rose Bowl is a heck of a consolation prize
The current system suggests that if you're a winner you make the top 4 (playoffs). But I'm not sure that's the best scenario for Utah. I think it might be better for Utah to go to the Rose Bowl than to be the #4 seed against LSU in the playoffs. The Rose Bowl would be a great achievement and experience. Getting blown out by LSU in some playoff bowl doesn't sound fun. Either way, the UU has to just win out.
