But yeah, the CFP is new and not loved. And it would be tougher to come out on top and enjoy it as an unvarnished happy end to a season.
The Rose Bowl is... the Rose Bowl. I'm a traditionalist in a lot of ways, and while the thought of CFP is exciting... Fifty years on will we we even have a CFP? Will football even exist and still be played at the level it is today?
Being in the lost of Rose Bowl participants puts us in a clear historical context that is a very lovely place to be. If we go to the CFP and lose in the first round... Will it be a more fun experience as a fan?
I'm not so sure. Half of me would rather just go to the Rose.
