The problem is that instead of teaching them to get even better, Tuiaki is essentially stunting their growth by trying to make all of them bullrushers. For the ends especially, that's a horrible idea. Essentially, Tuiaki the defensive coordinator has gotten so skittish that it's making Tuiaki the d-line coordinator try to force his entire d-line into the safest technique possible, having his entire line play like nose tackles. He's so worried about creating even bigger gaps that he's allowing virtually nothing but bullrushing from his defensive line. The way he's pulling back the linebackers instead of consistently changing the looks with them (the entire reason to use the 3-4 in the first place) is just further exacerbating the issue for the d-line. So basically, both Tuiaki the defensive coordinator and Tuiaki the d-line coach is the entire reason for our d-line issues. Even if Kalani refuses to let Tuiaki go as d-coordinator this offseason, he absolutely needs to bring on someone else to coach the d-line, or else their struggles will continue.
