Freeloader Walk-on
My son is driving a 1997 Honda Civic...my wife’s first car.
We pay his insurance and the rest is on him. Of course if his insurance goes up, that is also on him. The car is ours, we just told him he gets to use it, but he has to take care of it...change oil, add coolant, etc. so that my other kids can drive it as well. He got in a small accident and had to buy parts at a junk yard to put it back how he got it. I think he is learning responsibility and the value of a dollar since he works at McDonald’s to drive and pays for his own cell phone bill.

I had nothing as a teen. I appreciated earning and buying my first car after my mission. Don’t mind letting him drive something older since he only drives locally anyway. There’s a fine line between helping and crippling a teenager.
