Haven't regretted it. My company has gone through a lot of rounds of layoffs. Knowing that I don't have a mortgage and could cut my monthly expenses super low if needed has brought peace of mine. Also, when comparing returns to stock market keep in mind your actual return is almost always lower than the stated avg return due to the timing of the returns. (Example: I have $100k and the first year it goes up 10% and I now have $110K the next year it goes down 10%. I now have $99K. My average return has been 0% but my actual return is -1%).
