If they expand the playoff to 6 or 8 teams and guartantee a spot to the G5, then joining a BOTR conference makes sense because it basically ensures the bid goes to that conference. This addresses the access goal. The money issue will still be there unless or until the other schools in this hypothetical BOTR conference build large fan bases.
