Something similar happened to me about 5 years ago. We were moving a gun safe my
Dads home. My uncle took a gun out of the safe to look at because it was one of my grandma’s old guns. My dad and uncle have both grown up around guns and have always preached gun safety. Well my uncle was distracted and on the phone and assumed the gun was unloaded and also though it was broken because the hammer wouldn’t pull back and the cylinder wouldn’t spin. For some dumb reason he pulled the trigger while I was standing in front of him, unfortunately for me it was loaded and hit my in the back. Ended up spending 10 days in the hospital after being life flighted. It was less than 1/2” from hitting me in the spine and it was only a .22 but it ricocheted around hitting my colon, appendix as pancreas. I still own guns, but I’m definitely a lot more aware of the people I go shooting with.
