On another team, you’re talking about influencing Maybe 50 people over the 4 years to one degree or another OR influencing an Entire nation.... once I left Utah and went to school and now work on the East coast the #1 thing that allows me to be a missionary is me saying I went to BYU and 90% of the time when that comes up we go directly to football (I’m in the south) the BYU football Team makes that conversation Normal rather than trying to explain that we’re not Amish and I don’t have 13 moms... which is kinda what happens with the few non -football fans
If they are on another team the team and coaches would probably know they’re a member but that’s about it unless they turn into Manti Teo... and surprisingly that wasn’t publicized as much as it could have... going to BYU makes you a missionary for life far after college is over especially for athletes
