Honestly any diet where you eat less calories than you burn you'll lose weight
on. So they may very well be losing weight doing intermittent fasting. Whether you keep it off long term or immediately rebound once you stop doing the diet is a completely different story and has a lot to do with whether or not you've kept your muscle mass while dieting and haven't slowed down your metabolism.
