BYU as a program has always aspired to more than limping to a bowl game and trying to avoid a bottom-half FBS finish.
They've aspired to be well above .500, better than 11-12 vs. G5 teams, they expect to be better than UMass, ECU, NIU, USF, Toledo, Hawaii, SDSU etc.
Just because they haven't been at that level the last 3 years doesn't mean the program should no longer have high expectations. They've been and aspired to much more for several decades.
It's almost unimaginable how quickly the bar was lowered.
