a couple comments
1. This thread shares a lot of qualities with a good EQ discussion. Thanks CB brothers.

2. I accept the wisdom of increased hygiene and social distancing. I also think the idea of flattening the curve as it has been presented to the public conveniently glosses over the months-long commitment it will require (as illustrated nicely in this video). As the flattened curve moves along and a huge swath of the population remains in the Susceptible category, are we willing to see this through a 3 to 6 month process, or are we resigned to deal with multiple waves once we loosen restrictions, or are we just pushing things back as far as the public will tolerate while hoping for a quick cure/vaccine/deliverance?

That's why I say the flatten the curve mantra as it has been thrown around is a myth. "Citizens do your duty for the next two weeks to stamp this thing out" has not been one of the actual choices before us.
