My sister got cancer, my father died suddenly this last summer, my brother just lost his job, a brother's wife left him so that she could drink and party.... life happens. If God always intervened then we wouldn't be able to learn or grow. In 3rd Nephi God allowed a famine to happen to minimize death caused by war.
