It's easy to manufacture, and any shortages will be very short term as millions of doses are going to be flowing in.
And yes, there are health care professionals who are taking it as a prophylactic. I don't blame them one bit.

You are grossly overestimating the number of doctors that believe it works. Most hope it will or believe it might.
