The doubling time from 3/12 forward was from people infected previously

As he notes, it takes 5 days before the onset of symptoms and another 18 days to death. He’s working backwards from daily deaths now to get the number of infected 23 days ago and coming back forward.

Estimates of infected are just guesses until antibody tests are used to see how many people without symptoms have an immune response already.

Nobody knows the true IFR. Without that all these theories are just a guess.
