I ask because starting with Ativan for anxiety doesn’t sound like something a psychiatrist would do. Cognitive behavioral therapy would be the place to start, and if medications are necessary after lifestyle changes, then an SSRI would be a more likely place to start, especially in a young healthy patient with a new diagnosis of anxiety without a coexisting substance use disorder

Taking daily Ativan is baaaaaaad medicine. I think a switching to something like propranolol is a great idea.

Psychologists can't prescribe meds. Psychiatrists are super hard to get an appointment with. I think
