I would watch my friends on the KC bbq circuit and think that as much as I loved the food they made, I wasnt really interested in hunting good hardwood, tending a fire overnight, etc.
Then Traeger came along and made good bbq possible for lazy chefs. It was a game changer.
Now the game continues to change. No longer is a pellet smoker the pinnacle of outdoor cooking. Now you have combo grills that will cook both low and high.
There will always be a place for stick smokers and charcoal grills. In many ways they are superior. But the benefits are relatively small compared to the convenience of modern outdoor cookers.
