I don't think there was ever a better time to grow up than the 90s.
The time between when the Cold War ended and 9-11 was the most peaceful in history, the economy was relatively prosperous, school shootings weren't common yet, the internet wasn't strong enough to keep kids glued to computers and consoles yet. Civil rights have taken a big step forward since then, but for the average kid the 90s were the best time in history to be alive.

Same could be said of the 80s, so growing up in both the 80s and 90s was an excellent double whammy of awesomeness.
