with my brain on and engaging in mature discussions free from knee jerk emotionally driven barbs of absurdity. My apologies. People that claim that global events and worldwide trends somehow immediately change at the tick of a clock lack the level of maturity required to have a rational conversation free from insults and the desire to "win" rather than engage in promoting a mutual understanding. It is apparent that you prefer to focus on the negative and as a result I doubt you could find a single decade in our history that you would qualify as good because, going back to my earlier comment, I acknowledge that EVERY decade has good and bad.
And the bottom line is if you can't acknowledge what virtually every historian does, which is that the overall spirit of the 80s was starkly and markedly different than the 70s, then I don't think you have the ability to comprehend the ebbs and flows of history. Getting lost in the details of every specific event can prevent one from being able to step back and understand the bigger picture.
