I assumed the conversation was limited to the United States. There haven't
been any significant changes in minority rights in the US since the 90s.
As for things like gay marriage...well, we can have a whole separate debate in the appropriate CB category as to whether that was an advancement in rights or an invention of something that never existed in the history of the world.

Same could be said of the 80s, so growing up in both the 80s and 90s was an excellent double whammy of awesomeness.
