Tightening the fairways makes sense. Make players face a risk when hitting driver.

But I don’t know how I feel about firming up the greens. That would definitely hurt scoring. But in terms of what choices it will encourage players to make, I’m not sure. On the one hand, it would encourage a more conservative approach off the tee so they can hit their approach shot from the fairway. But on the other hand, it could encourage some to bomb it off the tee so they can hit wedge into the firm green.
