inserts for his tennis shoes. His calf and achilles were not used to that stretch in tennis shoes since they are flat. Solved the problem.

My calves don't stay sore...burning subsides pretty quick after I walk a little.

Sounds like it could be an issue with heel drop.

Stretch might help. I stop usually 5 minutes into my run when I am starting to warm up, and stretch my calves.

I would think a low heel drop shoe might help. Most shoes have significant heel
