done now are for cosmetic, not safety reasons. A gap in teeth is not correcting a disfigurement. There is no danger in that gap, it's just conforming to what your teeth are "supposed" to look like. How about veneers? Trendy hairstyles? Makeup? Implants aren't even a permanent thing. They are fairly easy to remove.
How about a tummy tuck? Have you seen what babies do to a woman's stomach muscles? That surgery is more often about correcting a disfigurement than even braces are at this point.
And before you think I'm being defensive, my wife has had neither a tummy tuck or breast implant.
