I built my own PC
With top of the line specs 10 years ago and it's still going strong. It is still a decent PC from a specification perspective.

If budget isn't a concern, I would consider doing a striped array for the drive on which you install the operating system for improved speed, and a mirrored array for the drive on which you store all your personal files for safety backup purposes. That is what I did, and it saved us once when one drive failed a few years ago.
