And SC and UCLA are nowhere near as prominent as they were in the 70's and 80's.
And there's no sub-division conference accelerant that allows you to circumvent playing some of the really good Northern teams in the conference on an regular basis.
And while you've become competitive in football, institutionally you are still perceived to be the equivalent of an Oregon State or a Washington State, i.e. you are still considered to be the academic equivalent of a "commuter school," which is really what you are.
In fact, in many ways after a decade, you are still a de facto MWC institution and always will be.
