Why is BYU Football even doing this?

Why are we buying into the need to identify by racial group?

Totally unnecessary, and then people are writing butthurt threads on CB about their own racial identity and the racial drama snowball keeps rolling down the hill.

EDIT: I saw more about this...it's not a BYU award? Just BYU recognizing it? Perhaps not as dumb.
