I had severe pain in my abdomen near my colon years ago and thought my colon was rupturing

It turned out to be epiploic appendagitis, a rare condition where little pouches of fat are inflammed on the intestines. Lots of weird things can cause severe stomach pain. That, appendix, colon, kidney stones, diverticulitis, gallbladder etc. A lot of it is very hard to diagnose even with imaging.

Are they 100% certain it isn't an appendicitis? Once it ruptures, things get really bad, really fast.

Yes, same daughter, but not diabetic related--at least that's the theory now. Endometriosis is the guess now.
