I feel bad for you ER docs. Seriously, you guys see so much crap and everything
Is so scrutinized by everybody. Patients don't like you, cause you didn't figure out their problem.
I tell everybody that going to the ER is not to get the final diagnosis, it is for triage. Are you gonna live? The get you home and follow up with so and so. Are you gonna die? They get you to the place to keep you alive.
I know that is quite simplistic, but I want my patients to know your job isn't to figure out the numbness that has been around for 6 months.

Are they 100% certain it isn't an appendicitis? Once it ruptures, things get really bad, really fast.

They got the pain relatively under control. She's at our house now, seeing a surgeon first thing in the AM
