I use the carpool lane if driving with my family and I'm going to be on the road
for a while. It's just simpler than trying to navigate different lanes with cars weaving back and forth. If I'm in a 70 mph zone, going 75 in the carpool lane, I don't care if someone is going 80+ somewhere else. I don't have to drive like an idiot just because someone else is doing so.

People dont refer to it as the “left lane”. They call it the “fast lane” which should be grounds for losing your license
