Not positive, but shouldn't he have been the one to deal with your workers comp

Insurance?

Wouldn't they have provided guidance on treatment methods and/or approved clinics and doctors? And they would have determined whether it was even a reasonable workers comp claim to begin with.

It sounds like him doing what he wants and then asking for you to cover it is enough reason that you may need to get a lawyer on your side.
