My advice is that the only way to handle any injury sustained at work is through
WC Insurance. Make sure they know you allow light duty (if you can) to minimize the time away from work and then let them fight the battle. They know what they are doing and you can stay above it all and just let the employee know you look forward to having them back as soon as they are released to work. You are the good guy here. You provide a job. You provide workers compensation insurance. You make sure your workplace is safe. They are responsible to act safely and seek appropriate medical attention when something happens. The insurance company plays the heavy and makes sure the claims and requested payments are legit.
