It was a no knockdown league. There was one play where the coaches son, the star player had the ball and was running towards the goal. The defender in front of him was much bigger and much more clumsy. The defender stop and the star player ran into him and fell down. The defender did initiate contact, didn’t extend his arms or anything but the little kid bounced right off of him and fell to the ground. The kid immediately got up and started hitting the bigger kid in the helmet with his stick.

I threw a flag on the little guy, the star player. The big guy didn’t do anything wrong so didn’t flag him. The coach was irate, his son came off the field crying and I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a minor concussion.

But I had a great look. The coach saw his son get knocked down and thought there was no way his son didn’t get hit. I understand his point of view but it was my call
