I was talking with my coworker and boss at the time when I figured this out
And he says to me, oh yeah, the same exact thing happened to me. I can’t drink milk anymore. I couldn’t believe it since I had been complaining to him about this pain for months and he hadn’t said anything at all. He took a probiotic with lactase every day whenever he wanted to have a milkshake or some type of milk-based product and stated that it helped with his symptoms. I have done the same and found that I can enjoy things without a lot of pain as long as I take one an hour before ingestion.

I think that’s what bothered me most about it. As I have talked to other people about this issue, I have found that it is actually fairly common. And it was never suggested to me by any of the doctors I saw. I’m a doctor myself, so I don’t just criticize doctors for no reason. But they seemed more interested in doing more scopes and more tests rather than giving me simple advice and information.
