I have come full circle with WFH
When my company shut down our sites and had us all start working from home mid-March 2020 it was expected to be just for 2 weeks, like everyone else. I had never had a WFH job before and HATED being home all day but thought that I could do it for a few weeks.

As time went on and our return to work was repeatedly pushed out I came to enjoy WFH and didn’t want to return to work. I liked having more time at home with my family, not having to commute, and saving on gas. Plus, I felt I was more effective because I was able to put in more time with work throughout the day (earlier log in, working projects after hours) which was helpful because all of my peers are based in Charlotte and I’m in Denver.

Now, 13 months later and with an anticipated post-Labor Day return date, I straight up hate it. I miss my commute because it allowed for a wind-up heading into work and a wind-down coming home. I miss my alone time listening to my thoughts in quiet on the way home. I miss having a separation of work and home. My team is getting burned out as well because volume has picked up and in some ways we are now less efficient than we would be if we were in the office.

I’m ready to get back into the office and have better work/life balance again.
