I wonder if sports journos and advertisers will start doing due diligence

And I'm not just talking about Biles. There are several American teams and individual athletes who the media assumed would waltz to gold and have not looked sharp. And then you do a tiny bit of reading to find out they haven't looked great in two years

In qualifiers three US gymnasts did the exact same vault, including Biles. She scored higher despite an error.

Yeah, she had several egregious errors but still had the best score in almost every event.
