I ache for these young people. It’s as if
the networks decide before the Olympics who the heroes are going to be, whose story is most sellable. They then make the videos and promotional materials. Sponsors then make commercials to take advantage of their short time in the spotlight. And if the networks guess wrong, all of that build-up is tossed and forgotten. That’s a lot of pressure on an athlete, especially coming off the nightmare of the last 18 months.
