My point here is that I'm glad we're in the Big 12 and that things went quickly enough that there was little organized lobbying against us.
That's not saying I don't think we should be there, but just acknowledging the reality that we're a lightning rod for some folks and there would be more pushback if given more time.
As to the MWC, I've admittedly argued against independence on multiple occasions, but never for the MWC. For me it always went Big 12 -> AAC -> Indy -> MWC (At least with the AAC as formerly constituted - with them losing UCF, Cincy, Houston, it might make independence, much as I dislike it, better than the new AAC).
But there's no doubt that being in the Big 12 is the ideal outcome, so at this point it doesn't matter whether you or I hypothetically prefer a good G5 conference or Independence - we all agree they're both worse outcomes than the current.
