Honestly, would they rather be in the AAC? My guess is those who pushed for this probably don’t watch or care about sports. It is just an opportunity to be self righteous and to feel important. What is more comical is I doubt any of them have actually reached out to anyone at BYU or students that have actually gone there. Probably relying on a lot of here-say and assumptions. Have the LDS church and BYU always been sensitive to LGBTQ+ concerns and struggles? No, but both BYU and the church have recently strived for greater understanding and empathy. When you actually look at it now, BYU’s position is no different than that of ND’s and I doubt ISU would turn the Irish down an invite if they sought it.
