Baylor had only 2 timeouts, so BYU could theoretically have run out the clock and just gone to the locker room. Instead, BYU called a timeout after a 1 yd loss; this allowed Baylor to stop the clock on the following two plays and forced BYU to kick the ball to Baylor to end the half. Thankfully nothing came out of it, but it was a completely unnecessary risk. Even worse, BYU's very conservative playcalls (rush, rush, rush) did nothing to justify the clock management risk BYU took when they called their first timeout.
If you're going to burn clock, at least do it right...
